Skrócony opis:

The primary purpose of the course is to teach some fundamental ideas and attitudes in computer networks. After the course, students will be able to construct reliable, high-quality computer networks with the use of routers and switches, and will be deeply familiar with IOS current notions of specification. They will also have acquired the basis of an engineering view of structured cabling systems.

Pełny opis:

The primary purpose of the course is to teach some fundamental ideas and attitudes in computer networks. After the course, students will be able to construct reliable, high-quality computer networks with the use of routers and switches, and will be deeply familiar with IOS current notions of specification. They will also have acquired the basis of an engineering view of structured cabling systems.

The goal of this course is to introduce student to fundamental networking concepts and technologies. The skills that will be emphasized in this course are practical nature. In this course, we will explore the concepts that build the foundation of current computer networks, protocols and standards. Students will learn how networks and their components interact and operate how to identify the main challenges in networking and discover how they are solved, explore different techniques that are employed in networking research and will develop practical networking skills through the lab assignments.

The goal is to develop an understanding of how routers and switches are interconnected and configured to provide WAN access to LAN users. Labs will help students become familiar with the basic components of a PC computer system, routers and switches and their connections including network attachment. Hands-on and lab experiments and specific skills will be based on routers switches IOS.
