  • tygodniowy wymiar godzinowy nakładu pracy studenta wynosi 45 h;
  • 1 punkt ECTS odpowiada 25-30 godzinom pracy studenta potrzebnej do osiągnięcia zakładanych efektów uczenia się;
  • tygodniowy nakład pracy studenta konieczny do osiągnięcia zakładanych efektów uczenia się pozwala uzyskać 1,5 ECTS;
  • nakład pracy potrzebny do zaliczenia przedmiotu, któremu przypisano 3 ECTS, stanowi 10% semestralnego obciążenia studenta.

The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the subject of the history of international relations in 19th and first half of the 20th century; broad their knowledge, develop and improve their critical and analytical skills within the discipline of International Relations through the critical analysis of historical processes.

a) Notions and definitions: history of international relations, history of diplomacy, world order

b) World orders and the French Revolution

c) Powers’ interests Turing the Congress of Vienna and the establishing of different world systems

d) Foundations and the range of international systems (Vienna Order, Holy Alliance and the Concert of Powers

2. European system in the time of revolution.

a) Holy Alliance in the period of revolutions in the 1830s

b) Spring of Nations – Revolutions of 1848 and the modernization of the European social order

c) Italian and German questions in the time of resolution

3. The fall of the Portuguese and Spanish Colonial Empires in Latin America.

Metody i kryteria oceniania:

To pass the subject student needs to pass the oral exam. The exam consists of 3 questions. First question refers to the textbook, the second to the lecture, and the third question refers to the book that student has chosen from the list of supplementary readings. The book chosen by student need to be approved by lecturer. One book cannot be chosen by more than three students.

To pass the oral exam student has to deliver at least basic information to all three questions.

Grading:

3.0.: Student knows basic facts and delivers an answer with minor mistakes.

3.5.: Student knows basic and more advanced facts and delivers an answer with minor mistakes. Student understands the process of the events.

4.0.: Student knows basic and more advanced facts and delivers an answer with minor mistakes. Student understands the course of the events and tries to interpret it.

4.5 Student knows the basic and advanced information, and makes almost no mistakes. Student understands the course of events and analyses it.

5.0. Student has advanced knowledge concerning the topic of the lecture and delivers his own source-based analysis.
