Założenia (lista przedmiotów): | The course participants should possess a basic knowledge in the field of political history of XX century, knowledge on society and political geography. |

Skrócony opis: |
The main purpose of this course, namely the lecture with elements of seminar (interactive & integrative excercises) is to supply students with a methodology, systematization, evolution, and exemplification of the selected European and other states’ contemporary political systems. The Euro-Atlantic zone after the WWII and in its comparative perspective will be explored in particular. The interactive approach as above will be functional for the current verification of the presented course contents’ absorption by students and their future professional career. |

1. Research approaches to the notion of political system. Introduction to interactive & integrative exercises. 2. Legal and constitutional institutions of political system. General typology of systems of governance and forms of states. 3. Election systems and their typology. Dynamic elements of political systems (parties and party systems, groups of interest). 4. Principal governance’s rules of democratic states. The nature and genesis of constitutionalism. 5. Idea and practice of separation of powers. 6. Unitary and federal state. The notion of autonomy. 7. Authoritarian and totalitarian systems of rule. 8. Parliamentary-cabinet system of governance (Great Britain, Ireland, Canada). 9. Chancellor and parliamentary-committee systems (Germany, Switzerland). 10. Classic presidential system (USA). 11. Neo- or quasipresidential and mixed systems (France, Finland). 12. Selected hybrid like presidential systems (Latin America, Russia). 13-15. Panorama of the political systems in Central-East Europe. |
