English in Tourism I

Lessons based on English for International Tourism coursebooks to meet the learning outcomes.

It's a three-level series designed to meet the English-language needs of professionals working in the tourism industry and students of tourism in further education.

Using photos and maps from the world’s best-loved guidebooks, Dorling Kindersley’s Eyewitness Travel Guides, this is a highly motivating way for learners to:

build confidence in professional skills such as dealing with enquiries, marketing destinations, negotiating and speaking to groups.

acquire specialized terminology.

build confidence in the professional skills needed in the tourism industry.

practise language skills by means of realistic case studies.

Case studies

Each unit ends with a case study that’s linked to a tourism theme. Case studies are based on real-life tourism issues or situations and are designed to encourage students to seek solutions (problem-solving skills). The case studies build on the language and professional skills that the students have acquired in the unit.

They have basic general knowledge in the field of scientific disciplines to which the field of study is assigned (management and quality, economics and finance, physical culture sciences as well as social and economic geography and spatial management), including the historical perspective and selected detailed issues and relationships resulting from the interdisciplinarity of the phenomenon of tourism. TR_K6_W02 Graduates have knowledge and understanding of the basic concepts and principles of law, including protection of industrial property and copyright, as well as advanced knowledge and understanding of selected detailed legal measures related to tourism and recreation, including the hospitality industry.

P6S_WK TR_K6_W03 Graduates have advanced knowledge and understanding of the structure of the tourism market, including the hotel industry, the economic, organizational and geographical dependencies in the tourism economy, local, national and international conditions of professional activity in tourism and recreation, including the hotel industry, as well as the most important development trends in this area.
