Zakres tematów: |
(tylko po angielsku) Descriptive Statistics. Random samples, percentiles – a formula for a percentile’s position; a formula for a percentile’s value dependent on the percentile’s position; typical variation range; the law of 3 sigmas; most common continuous probability distributions (normal, exponential, uniform); many real life applications. Invoking basic statistical functions: NORMDIST(x,mean,standard_dev,cumulative), NORMINV(probability,mean,standard_dev), PERCENTILE(array,k), EXPONDIST(x,lambda,cumulative), SUMXMY2(array_x, array_y), TDIST(x,deg_freedom,tails). Statistical inference. Sampling distributions for the mean; the central limit theorem; point estimates and large-sample confidence intervals for the mean; confidence intervals for population proportion with various confidence levels; hypothesis testing for population mean; rejecting hypotheses; type I and type II errors; Student’s t-distribution. comparison of t – Student distribution with normal distribution. Hypothesis testing based on t-Student distribution. Rejecting zero hypothesis for the alternative hypothesis, the number of degrees of freedom, Many, many practical examples solved from industry and commerce. |

Metody dydaktyczne: |
(tylko po angielsku) Presentation of the material in the classroom, sending this material to students in parts via e-mail. |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Metody i kryteria oceniania: |
(tylko po angielsku) Students will be required to know how to solve a number of, say 20 important practical problems, which will be submitted to them at a certain point. The exam will check their knowledge. In the middle of the semester students will be given some problems to think about and bring their solutions. These problems will help them prepare for the written exam at the end of the semester. |
