Short Description:

This course advances students’ Spanish proficiency to a B2 level, focusing on complex grammar structures, nuanced vocabulary, and sophisticated communication skills in both written and spoken contexts.

Long Description:

The Spanish B2 course is designed for students who have mastered A2/B1 fundamentals and are ready to engage with more abstract and detailed language use. Through Arriba III, students will explore advanced grammar (e.g., future tenses, conditional mood, subjunctive contrasts) and thematic vocabulary (e.g., crime, economics, professions). Emphasis is placed on constructing coherent arguments, understanding implicit meanings, and expressing opinions on societal issues. Interactive debates, essay writing, and authentic media (news clips, ads) will deepen cultural and linguistic competence.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

Use futuro imperfecto/perfecto and condicional simple for predictions, hypotheses, and politeness.

Differentiate subjunctive vs. indicative in relative clauses (e.g., *Busco un libro que explica/explique*).

Master ser/estar contrasts in abstract contexts (e.g., *es aburrido/está aburrido*).

Employ pretérito perfecto del subjuntivo in hypotheticals (e.g., Dudo que haya llegado).

Structure complex sentences with conectores causales (porque, ya que, debido a) and temporales (cuando, mientras, hasta que).

Discuss topics like crime, aging, circular economy, and workplace dynamics with fluency.
