Socio-economic analysis

The focus of this course is to familiarize students with socio-economic analysis and the role of social relations and institutions play in the economy. The course is divided into two major components. The first component is lecture. This part is focuses on the problem of relation between business and society. The first few lectures will establish a general framework for the study of different types of capitalism, organization of economic process and economic interests. Considers the implications of work systems and worker participation in both union and non-union work environments. The second component is class. We will discuss the concepts in articles and will continue the discussion throughout the course as we begin to look at the relation between culture and the economy.

The course employs a variety of teaching methods, including lectures, discussion, case write. Although the specific activities will vary, the objectives will always be the same: to improve your understanding of socio-economic analysis.

2. Midterm exercise (40 points) this exercise will determine your total number of percent you can earn for the lecture assignment.

3. Participation in presentation ( 40 points).

The final course grading criteria is described below

90 100 points Very Good (grade 5 )

80 89 points Good plus (grade 4+ )

70 79 points Good (grade 4)

60 69 points Satisfactory plus ( grade 3+ )

50 59 points Satisfactory (grade 3 )

40 49 points Marginal (grade 2)
