1. General introduction to some major terms of English phonology like vowels and consonants, sound articulation organs, intonation etc. 2. Articulation of fricative consonants: f, v, θ, ð, s, z, ʃ, ʒ. Sound comparison of the voiceless θ and voiced ð. 3. –s endings in spelling and pronunciation. Schwa sound in function words. Sentence stress. Homographs. 4. Long Vowels: i:, u:, ɜ:, ɔ:, ɑ:. Sound comparison of ɪ (short) and i: (long) vowel. 5. Structure of two syllable words. Intonation of Wh- questions. Homophones. 6. Plosive consonants: p, t, k, b, d, g. Sound comparison ʔ and t. Pronunciation of –ed endings. Structure of three syllable words. Intonation in Yes/No questions. Silent syllables. 7. Short vowels: ɪ ʊ e ʌ æ ɒ. Sound h at the beginning of the words and in function words. Silent letters. Joining of sound in a phrase in fluent speech. 8. Intonation of the question tags.
