(tylko po angielsku) The aim of this course is to acquire knowledge and skills in designing a 30-hectare district building complex with a domination of a residential function, with focus on the context of the place and creation and transforming urban space in accordance with the principles of urban composition. These classes are the place where students to think critically about processes and problem-solving techniques in the realm of urban design by implementing sustainable development strategies. |

(tylko po angielsku) Mixed-Use Function Plot with Majority of Residential Housing. Urban design course concerns a design for a mixed use function (commercial, offices, various services, multi-family and single-family and the services connected to them). The task is to put together the program and spatial concept of the plot (along with equipping in basic elements of technical infrastructure) based on a comprehensive urban analysis of the place - Analysis of functional, natural, compositional, transport infrastructure, cultural, historical context. In the result students will be able to design a masterplan, with structure of buildings, in conjunction with the natural surrounding and social environment on many different levels. Project area:~60 ha • Students will be working in groups for the analysis ad the idea parts • Phase1 is to make an analysis of conditions and creation of sketches of the spatial concept. ANALYSIS: Site inventory Architectural and urban analysis (functions, high of buildings, materials, etc.) Planning documents analysis (local master plan) Historical Context analysis Urban composition analysis Natural environment analysis Existing communication analysis User groups analysis. SUGGESTED DRAWINGS needed to explain the project e.g.: Urban analysis – 1:2000 Photography, sketches – no scale Urban plans (view from above) – 1:1000 Detail drawing (horizontal cross section) – 1:500 Street Sections (vertical) – 1:500 Rendering / Visualization IDEA: The group of the students should present individual ideas to solve the plot, students with similar ideas will be connected to work together in phase 2 • Phase 2. Urban design concept: Design phase – the students need to work in a group(maximum 2) on a program and spatial concept for the mixed use complex, solving the problems that the plot may have, including spatial and functional decisions, taking into account the conclusions and guidelines of the first phase. To properly illustrate this concept, 3d sketches (axonometry / perspective) or working mockup are needed, as well as diagrams explaining the proposed solutions for: public space system and it connections with the other areas, greenery zones and its connections to other areas, functional structure, engineering and transport services. • Task 3: Done individually, the plot will be divided into two or three students and they have to specify of the urban design concept Phase of detailing the development concept with an emphasis on the functional layout of the complex, car and pedestrian traffic, green areas, development of public and social spaces - scale 1: 1000. At the end of this phase each student is required to draw an MPZP plan of their own plot. • TASK 4: Board graphics and visualizations: Board 1. - Site analysis – 1:2000 (Group work) Board 2. - Urban design concept – 1:1000 (Group work) Board 3. - Specify of the urban design concept – |
Metody i kryteria oceniania: |
(tylko po angielsku) Course requirements: 1. The projects are made in the groups of two (students). When there is odd number of people either one group of 3 is optional or one individual work (with smaller area to work on). 2. Students must be present during all the classes. Only one unexcused absence is permissible. Every additional absence decreases your final grade. Three or more unexcused absences automatically result in not getting the credit for the course. 3. Attendance is marked individually (not collectively in accordance with your team). Overview: 1. Overview of the projects will take place in the middle of the semester 2. Attendance is obligatory. Components of final degree: 1. Creativity of the concept, 2. Accuracy 3. Aesthetics. 4. Clarity of the presentation 5. Compliance of the design drawing with the assumed scale will be assessed. Components of final degree - proportions of assessment components in percent 70 % project 30% level of presentation |
